Eisen Eisen's Story Eisen has long been of critical importance in Théan wars and politics. Troops often needed permission to move through her borders, and trade agreements often hinged on allowing ships to pass along the river to their south. Eisen's people have no magic except what they make with their own sweat and blood. Their dracheneisen (dragon iron) armor, however, is its own glorious heritage. Stronger than steel and twice as light, when coupled with the renowned military academies of Eisen, it made the Eisen military the most formidable of its time. However, Eisen has seen better days. In 1636 a religious struggle between the Objectionists and the Vaticine Church started the War of the Cross, which ended thirty years later. The war has left Eisen devastated. Fields were reduced to mud, garrisons could no longer be paid, and merchant ships could thumb their nose at any Eisen attempt to collect tolls. After the death of the Imperator, Eisen's government has collapsed into seven königreiches or "kingdoms", each ruled by an Eisenfürst or "Iron Prince." Notable People Fauner Pösen: Fauner Pösen's family has a strong military history, and she is no exception. She's taller than the average woman, quite strong, and reputedly extremely skilled with a sword and battlefield tactics. Erich Sieger: The Eisenfürsten of one of the oldest königreiches in all of Eisen, his land was signed over to Montaigne and Castille by the Imperator in the Treaty of Weissberg. When the Castille forces arrived to take possession, they found the land burned and salted, and an apparent madman locked within the fortress, willing to fight to the death over it. They decided the land wasn't worth the lives it would cost them to take it, and returned home. Since then, Erich has been grimly working to repair the damage to his lands that he inflicted in order to retain them. Nicklaus Trägue: Nicklaus Trägue could be described as bitter and brooding. By a similar logic, a diamond could be described as "firm." He runs the city of Freiburg. He levies no taxes and ensures that the source of questionable merchandise never reveals itself. He was a respected general during the War of the Cross who has become an atheist. |
